There is an important philosophical distinction between itihasa and history: while history concerns itself with fact, itihasa concerns itself with truth.

This formula is a great heuristic device to assess one’s own stage of spiritual evolution. It exhorts one – through its reason and its intuition quotient – to excel on the two important parameters, satkarma and samarpana.
